Random thoughts inspired by Kelly Clarkson's 'Piece by Piece'
(Just on my drive home. Listened to the lyrics of the song and the story hit home).
It was primarily about a husband restoring a woman's faith in men (her father had abandoned her as a child) by showing her so much love and kindness.
Wish this is the narrative for most women.
The more common theme is to see men failing in their responsibilities as fathers, husbands, brothers, friends...
So many opportunities to restore this faith presents itself
only to be constantly missed.
It is typical for a woman to already feel like she is responsible for everything including a man's reaction, fault or inadequacy (a false and depressing case of self-blame).
She should not be pressured to take up that responsibility.
A woman does not need much
She only needs to be reminded that it is OK to fall ill, to take time off, to hang out with her girls, to travel, to have fun...
That it is OK to BE
That it is OK to LIVE
That it is OK to BREATHE
without a feeling of guilt that things are falling apart.
She should not feel like she needs to do more to earn a little.
Not only in terms of equal pay in the workplace
But also in friendships, relationships, marriages etc.
She should earn love by simply giving love
Not having to feel pressured to look in a certain way (all women I know love to look good and feel healthy)
She should earn respect by simply giving respect
Not feeling pressured to loose her self esteem and her identity
She should earn kindness simply by giving kindness
Not feeling pressured to have to pray, remind manipulate or beg a man for it
She should earn loyalty by simply being loyal
...
That level of support from a man is a treasure, mostly out of reach these days
Most men are quick to refer to every moral guide in the world when demanding submission and respect from a woman
But they open the book of reality when it is their turn to responsibly earn it
by being the maintainers and protectors of women as they should be.
Man up men! Take charge of your responsibilities!
Then maybe, just maybe
The faith of more women, in man-hood, man-kindness, man-power, man-strength... will be restored.
